Fahren Sie in nördlicher Richtung aus Porto mit Ihrem Reiseleiter, und beginnen Sie die historische und kulturelle Reise in die Vergangenheit und Gegenwart von Portugal. Die erste Station des Tagesausflugs ist die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe Stadt Guimarães in der Weinregion Minho. Portugals Geschichte wird lebendig, wenn Sie die Stadt mit der aus dem 10. Jahrhundert stammenden Burg und den Palast der Herzöge von Braganza sehen. Fahren Sie durch die historische Innenstadt zu Guimarães' Plätzen und Monumenten mit dem bewaldeten Abhang des Berges Penha im Hintergrund.
Genießen Sie ein 2-Gänge-Mittagessen mit Fisch oder Fleisch in einem Restaurant vor Ort, bevor es weiter geht nach Braga, von den Römern gegründet als Bracara Augusta und heute bekannt als Stadt der Erzbischöfe wegen seiner vielen religiösen Bauwerke.
Im Santuário do Sameiro sehen Sie ie Kuppelkirche der Muttergottes von Sameiro, gefolgt von einem Besuch im Santuário Bom Jesus do Monte in Tenões. Hier gehen Sie eine gewundene barocke Treppe auf einen Hügel hoch, auf dem eine Wallfahrtskirche liegt, von der aus Sie einen wundervollen Ausblick über Braga haben.
Machen Sie dann eine Fahrt durch das historische Stadtzentrum von Braga, wo Portugals älteste christliche Stadt geboren wurde. Sehen Sie die Römischen Ruinen, barocken Brunnen, großen religiösen Gebäude und Paläste und zahlreiche Kirchen und Türme vor der Rückfahrt nach Porto.

A wonderful trip! Our tour guide was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about not only the places we visited but the region and Portugal as a whole. I was initially worried that all the driving would make this trip unenjoyable, but our guide used the time to teach us about the history and customs as well as to point out some beautiful places along the way. The trip was very well timed out, we never felt rushed but also were never left waiting with nothing to do. Our guide was very open to the groups requests and although it wasn't initially planned she allowed half the group who wanted to climb all the stairs in Braga while driving the rest. The lunch provided was very good and they were able to fit our dietary restrictions. By the end of the day the group along with the guide bonded which made the trip that much better. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting the Porto area.

Yes you will enjoy what you see and learn of this tour. However, more free time is needed at Boms Jesus and Braga. Guimaraes is Cute but small, a walk thru is good but free time is really unneeded. NuNu is a cool guide!

Loved the Guimaraes and Braga Day Trip from Porto. To see the Guimaraes Castle from the 10th century. Stairs and a walkway have been installed so you can walk around the inside wall of the castle which gives you a great view of the surrounds. It gives you a perspective of what it would have been like for people inside looking to defend the monastory from attacks. The Samerio Sanctuary is beautiful and overlooks the surrounds of the city of Braga. Plus the grand old Braga Cathedral. Lunch was at a great restuarent where we had green wine, fish, and pork, with roast vegetables. Plus the Good Jesus of the Mount, outside of the city of Braga. A pilgrimage site with a monumental, Baroque staircase that climbs 116 metres with beautiful gardens. Plus the funicular that uses water and steam as a weight and pulley system to pull the trolley cars up and down the hill.

If you're short on time in Portugal, this day trip is a must in your itinerary! The day tour gave us both a glimpse of the powers both the Church and Monarchy held during the early days. It's a nice balance of knowing the history in different perspective. Our tour guide, Andre was really good in explaining to us the background of the places we've visited and had given us enough time to go around on our own. I would suggest next time to be grouped in an all-English speaking tour so that it's easier for communication. Overall, this place is a must see!

A good day trip well worth doing to see the Countryside and the Mountains North of Porto. A lot of religious content but the religious sites are in very lovely locations so one can enjoy. I would have liked more time wandering around the ancient towns of Braga and Guimaraes as they are indeed old and beautiful. The centre of Guimaraes is like a mediaeval film set. Our guide Pedro was excellent and looked after us very well.
