Sintra und Cascais sind kleine Dörfer gleich außerhalb von Lissabon, sie sind ein absolutes Muss, wenn Sie in Lissabon sind. Die Hügel um Sintra befinden sich in einem wunderschönen geschützten Bereich und beherbergen einige der schönsten Schlösser und Burgen.
Das schönste Wahrzeichen unter ihnen ist der Pena-Palast, den Sie früh am Morgen besuchen. Er gilt als schönstes Schloss in Europa und es ist eine wahre Freude, im Park zu spazieren oder einfach nur den fantastischen Blick vom Balkon zu genießen, mit Lissabon am Horizont.
Im gemütlichen Dorf Sintra, das aussieht wie eine Postkarte, haben Sie Zeit, lokale Gebäckstücke zu probieren, einige Souvenirs anzuschauen oder einfach nur das schöne Ambiente zu genießen. Anschließend geht es weiter zum Kap Roca (Cabo da Roca), dem westlichsten Stück Land in Europa, durch die engen Straßen in den Hügeln, wo es nicht viele Menschen gibt.
Von Cabo da Roca geht es in nördlicher Richtung nach Lissabon immer entlang der Küste, genießen Sie eine fantastische Aussicht über das Meer und dann auf den Fluss Tagus, wenn Sie ankommen in Lissabon. Auf dem Weg gibt es einen Halt in Cascais, das einstige Fischerdorf, das umgewandelt wurde zur Heimat der Könige im Exil und in ein Spionage-Zentrum im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Cascais ist jetzt eine gemütliche Strand-Stadt, wo Leute durch die Straßen laufen in der Sonne.

Could not have asked for a better tour. First a visit to Cascais, then to Cabo da Roca, then Sintra and then the Pena Palace in that order. Our guide was helpful, courteous and conscientious. Moreover, getting to the Pena Palace LAST was a real plus since there were no lines to get into the park or palace. It is as advertised - a small group of 6. We hit all the stops as advertised with sufficient time at each location. And the price was right. I plan to continue to use Viator. I have never been disappointed with previous tours Viator has offered in various European countries.

The tour is pretty good, you make an hour stop in Cascais, you can go to the beach if the weather is co-operative. However, our favorite spot was the western-most tip of Europe where the view is beautiful, we took some pictures. Sintra palace looks pretty good from outside due to kind of pillars it has and the moorish art and colorful building. However, I found the inside the palace to be a huge disappointment. Our guide Juan was a great guide, he gave us enough time to enjoy each spot, recommended Santini ice cream in Cascais, was very friendly. However, they call Pena Palace a "must viist" in Portugal. May be, for Portugease people it might be "must visit", but if you have been to Royal palace in Madrid and Palace of Versaille in Paris, you are going to find the inside of the palace to be a disappointment due to kind of hype they make. yes, the palace has good ceilings in couple of rooms and all and it might be important in history, but due to the fact that the palace high up in mountains, the views of the mountains and ocean from the palace are more worth enjoying then the inside of the palace. Overall, it's a pretty good tour because you do spend good amount of time outdoors in natural beauty, I do recommend this tour. However, you can also go on your own taking a public transportation to Cascais and Sintra.

It was a good tour but unfortunately we had really terrible weather. Our guide was excellent, and the castle was fascinating.

This really was an exceptional day although the dense fog made our time at the Palace less than ideal. I can only imagine what it would be like on a warm sunny day. The walking tour around Cascais however was delightful, although a local race did make parking a bit of an issue. Between Cascais and Sintra we stopped for lunch. An amazing restaurant with an entire 3 course meal, complete with wine, tea and coffee was only 22 euros. Give the less than ideal weather conditions this was probably the highlight of the day. A great choice by our terrific guide that day.

Amazing trip.....beautiful Sintra and Cascais..... Our driver and guide was the best.... very pleasant and easy going..... Ideal for a day trip!!!
