This was the most amazing experience anyone can have. It was the perfect night on the water and the manta days put on a full show for us. Nathan and Jacob were the perfect hosts and made a very daunting activity safe and easy. 5 stars for customer service, I messed my dates up and missed our booking and they were happy to get me on the next night before we were due to fly out. Very happy customer here!

We had a medical emergency on our trip, but the boat's captain wouldn't let us take our friend off the boat where we were watching the manta ray to get medical attention. He didn't believe that our friend was in need of medical attention; and all he talked about was the paperwork involved. He made us ride the boat back for 30 minutes to where we started. Then the ambulance drove 20 minutes to the hospital that was within minutes of where the manta ray sighting was. Overall, we did see one manta ray. But the boat ride was too long and rough (several got seasick), the viewing area was too crowded and the water too murky for a good look.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our Manta Ray adventure! We saw three beautiful rays and they did lots of rolls around us! I wish there was more space around the board - very crowded and we kept bumping each other! Crew was great!

This was a great experience the only thing I thought based on the advertising there would be many Manta Rays swimming. We did get a close up of one swimming right in front of us it was awesome.

Our group consisted of an age range between 12-71 and each and everyone of us had a fantastic time. We had 3 manta rays doing barrel rolls inches away from us. We had slightly choppy seas and using the pool noodle to steady our feet made all the difference. Getting out of the boat was easy and the warm shower was the perfect touch. I can’t recommend this enough.

This was a fun experience on the Big Island. We got to see 7 Manta Ray up close and personal! The crew was really helpful and made sure all guests on the trip were comfortable and had a great experience.

Hang Loose Night Time Manta Snorkeling was a fun adventure. We were supposed to go north to the Old Airport location but got word that there was lots of manta activity by The Sheraton. The captain and his crew made the ride out fun and had food and snacks available. Cameras and go pros were available to buy/rent respectively. The snorkel site was about 20 minutes away in darkness and the Kona coast was quite striking at night. You float off the sides of lighted surfboards with PVC handles attached. The mantas swim right up to get the plankton at times brushing up against you (don’t touch them though). I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. A must see in Kona!

Myself and husband did this, me being a bit more nervous as im not great with being in the sea but i knew id regret it if i didnt. The staff gave a very confident, friendly speech explaining everything we needed to know about what was going to happen, all about the manta rays and made me feel so much at ease. We were given equipment and made our way into the water, which is lit to encourage the plankton which the manta rays feed on, this made the sea nice and bright. We held onto a structure, lay out flat heads in the water to watch them come underneath and feed! it was absolutely amazing, they came so close and i was screaming down the snorkel with excitement. I was so proud of myself that i was doing it, and felt no fear, i couldnt get enough. But about 20 mins in i noticed a terrible taste in my snorkel. I couldnt work out at first what it was and tried to carry but it got stronger and stronger. I then asked my husband if his was ok. After another few minutes I began to feel very sick when i looked back into the water and lifted my head back out and took the snorkel off and thats when i noticed the taste was from the fumes from the back of the boat - diesel! It was overpowering. I called for help to get back on the boat and one of the staff came and swam back with me, leaving me at the steps to get back on. I could barely climb them from feeling so sick and shaky. Another guy was on board and i told him how i felt so sick (thinking he would give me advise on what to do, as this had been earlier mentioned), he said nothing. I said to him again that the engine fumes were so strong and i had been inhaling them and was so frustrated i had to come out as i had been enjoying the experience. I was given no advice or sympathy, which i felt disappointed as at first they were so friendly and made out no issue was too small and they were there to help us with anything. As much as i was ill after for a good few hours i still enjoyed the actual manta ray experience. What i would say is definitely do it, but make sure when you swing out to the raft to snorkel go further away from the boat.

The guys at Hang Loose Boat Tours were very nice and patient. At the actual spot, there were several other boat tours but the manta rays did not disappoint. At one point there were 3 all scooping up plankton and they would swim so close to the board. Nathan our guide explained what to expect and he worked so hard to make sure everyone enjoyed their experience. Word of advice, bring something warm to cover up for the 20 minute boat ride back to the harbor, it's a little chilly.

With so much hype around tour activities it's nice to come across one that is both reasonably priced and delivers as advertised. We had a nice 20-30 minute boat ride out, saw a beautiful sunset, waited a bit on the mantas to show up but then really got our money's worth with dozens of them coming within inches. . .just like it was promised. Great mate on the boat. Snacks and drinks (water/juices) on the way out and back. You should have some level of comfort in the water and be able to navigate a ladder in and out of the boat to participate. Seasickness can be a problem so take some Dramamine/Bonine if you are subject to it

Everything about this trip was awesome. They took us out to a great spot. Watched the sunset. They were very clearly aiming to give us the best possible experience. We say seven mantas while we were out there, closest one was just a foot or so away, doing barrel rolls under us. Then they took us out to see the stars.

This was an amazing experience. Our whole family went, and a couple of us stayed in the boat while the others did the actual snorkeling. The currents were not just right, so at first there were no rays, but our crew made sure that we followed the current and saw the rays. I would definitely recommend this to anybody when visiting Kona. Great trip!

Awesome crew, they explained everything clearly, beautiful sunset, we saw several Manta Rays. The only thing that I would have like different is entry into the water. Everyone got in and I felt like I was fighting for room on the light board and got kicked several time by other people when trying g to find a spot. Maybe a little more coordination would be better when there is a full boat.
